In 3rd Grade, we spend a lot of time working on Math, especially learning our multiplication tables. We also learn the 50 states and their capitals as well as their locations geographically. Students will read novels in addition to the regular stories in the Reading book.
We will do some hands-on activities throughout the year. There is a heavy emphasis in 3rd Grade on writing. We prepare the ministries for Mass and focus on growing our relationship with God. They also learn about several saints. Generally, we take about two field trips each year if possible. In the Spring, students participate in S.A.F.E. (Students and Firefighters in Education) Class, and take a field trip to the Herrin Fire Station. Specialized scheduled activities are listed below:
