At Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Regional Catholic School, we have designed a unique accelerated math program for our 6th through 8th grade students. We begin with those who qualify in 6th grade and accelerate through  Algebra at the 8th grade level.  This is an extremely aggressive approach and certain qualifications must be met. The program is designed to challenge the highest achievers in Math. Mathematics is integrated with other academic disciplines highlighting technology is taught by Mrs. Jeanie Nagrodski.

The Accelerated Literature Program at OLMC begins in the 5th grade and is taught by Mrs. Lainee McGraw.  Students who have scored within a particular range on the ITBS Test taken in the Fall of the 4th grade year are selected to follow this advanced track with the approval of their teacher.  At the middle school level, students will read, discuss and write about several books of different genres.  They will explore fantasy, historical fiction, a play, adventure novels and other interesting reading while learning about the literary elements used to create good literature.

At the 8th grade level, students will take a Literature Class taught at the 9th grade level.  Reading becomes more complex and lessons are treated actively and strategically.  Students are exposed to a variety of novels often integrated with history lessons.

Higher quality literary experiences learned in this class are the keys to gain insight and knowlege from the act of reading as well as interpretation and assessment of text.  Each year after reading "To Kill a Mockingbird," the 9th Grade Literature Class takes a fieldtrip to the Williamson County Courthouse in Marion. Ultimately, Accelerated Literature students are well-prepared for advanced and honors literature courses at the high school level.
